Two individuals were injured after their vehicle was struck by a car that Montreal police (SPVM) suspect may have been stolen.
The incident occurred at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday when patrol officers observed a vehicle that "could have been involved in criminal activities," said Mariane Allaire Morin, a spokesperson for the Montreal police.
The officers lost track of the vehicle but later found it on Bélanger Street near 30e Avenue in the Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie area.
"The vehicle collided with another car," Allaire Morin explained, noting that the driver fled on foot but was arrested shortly afterward.
The two occupants of the other vehicle, both in their 40s, sustained minor injuries to their upper bodies. One of them was transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons.
"The suspect, a 30-year-old man, was not injured," Morin added. "At this time, it is unclear how many suspects were involved."
Investigators are on the scene to determine the details leading up to the crash.
