Among the Viennese schnitzel, Neapolitan pizza, and Indian biryani restaurants in the top 20 is Canada’s highest ranked restaurant at number 18; Au Pied de Cochon.
Montreal’s reputation as a culinary hotspot has been reaffirmed, with three of its iconic eateries earning spots on the 2024-2025 100 Most Legendary Restaurants list compiled by TasteAtlas, a platform that maps global flavors and dishes. Notably, Montreal is the only Canadian city featured on the list.
Among celebrated venues like Viennese schnitzel houses, Neapolitan pizzerias, and Indian biryani spots in the top 20, Canada’s highest-ranked restaurant, Au Pied de Cochon, claims the 18th position. This Duluth Street establishment is renowned for its foie gras, pork dishes, and French onion soup.
Another Montreal favorite, Schwartz’s, famed for its smoked meat, ranks 41st on the list. Meanwhile, La Banquise, known for its diverse poutine offerings, takes the 74th spot, celebrated for its appeal as both a late-night and daytime dining destination.
Montreal also secured the 65th position on TasteAtlas’s 100 Best Food Cities in the World list, once again standing as the sole Canadian city recognized.
For food enthusiasts considering global travel, the top three legendary restaurants include Figlmüller in Vienna, L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele in Naples, and Munich’s Hofbräuhaus.
