Madeline Gaudreau, the widow of hockey player Matthew Gaudreau, welcomed a baby boy this week, four months after her husband's tragic death in a car accident.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, she shared a photo of her hand holding her newborn's hand, dressed in a blue onesie, with the caption "Tripp Matthew." She also tagged her late husband in the post.
Matthew, along with his brother Johnny Gaudreau, tragically lost their lives when a drunk driver struck them on a New Jersey road on August 29. Matthew was 29 and Johnny was 31.
Many people expressed their condolences and support to the new mother. One person commented, "A beautiful name. I know it must be really sad not to share this moment with him [...] He would be so proud of you!" Another wrote, “Congratulations. You now have a part of Matthew with you. Thinking of you both.”
In another update, Johnny's widow, Meredith, is also expecting their third child, with a due date in early 2025.
