Weekend Travel Disruptions in Montreal
Here are the key trouble spots for travelers in and around Montreal this weekend:
Route 136 (Ville-Marie Expressway)
- Full Closure: Both directions will be closed for the weekend as the St-Urbain St. overpass is demolished and the Guy St. exit reopens.
- Westbound: Closed between Panet St. and the Lucien-L’Allier entrance from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
- Eastbound: Closed between the de la Montagne St./Robert-Bourassa Blvd. exit and Atateken St. from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Additionally, the eastbound section between the Turcot Interchange and de la Montagne St. will be closed from midnight to 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
- Ramp Closures: The ramp from Highway 20 to Route 136 east will close from 11:59 p.m. Friday to 7:30 a.m. Sunday, requiring closure of the eastbound transitway between the St-Pierre and Turcot interchanges during this time.
Highway 40 (Charles-De Gaulle Bridge)
- Overnight Closures: Westbound traffic will face closures for repairs, starting Sunday night on this schedule:
- Sunday to Thursday: 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
- Friday: 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday.
- Saturday: 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday.
- Dates: These closures will occur from Dec. 15–20 and Jan. 5–9.

Ongoing Traffic Disruptions
Highway 25:
- Half of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel remains closed for renovations. Traffic is reduced to one lane toward the South Shore and two lanes toward Montreal.
Highway 40 (Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge):
- Reduced to three lanes: one in each direction and an additional weekday-directional lane. During weekends, the extra lane will support traffic heading to Vaudreuil-Dorion.
Route 117 (Marcel-Laurin Blvd.):
- In St-Laurent, two northbound lanes and one southbound lane are closed between the Décarie Interchange and St-Louis St. for ongoing municipal work until year-end.
Highway 520:
- Lanes remain closed at Highway 13 and 43rd Ave. until Dec. 20.
Jean-Talon St.:
- Construction on the Blue Line métro extension has caused closures. Bus routes, including 141 and 372, are detoured to Bélanger and Everett Streets.
Pie-IX Blvd.:
- Only one lane remains open in each direction between Pierre-de-Coubertin Ave. and Notre-Dame St. due to SRB Pie-IX extension work. Cross streets remain open.
St-Urbain St.:
- The overpass over the Ville-Marie Expressway is closed for renovations until late 2026, although pedestrian access is still available.
